The Hungarian Minister of Education wrote for the participants:
Dear Participants,
I am glad that Hungary has hosted the EU’s Young Scientists Competition
this year, because on the one hand, our young European friends could get acquainted
with the scientific life and culture of Hungary, on the other hand, we have demonstrated
that Hungary (as the first accession country in which this competition has been
organised) can be considered as one of the leading countries in the field of
sciences and research.
It is of specific pleasure for me that Hungary has been represented by 4 excellent
young scientists, and I am also sure that their European friends have gained
a lot of new experiences from which they can benefit later in their scientific
work. This competition is especially superb because it demonstrates that knowledge
is the only source that can ensure our good position in the competition in the
long run. In the knowledge-based society, young people – building on their
traditions – may realise numerous creative forms of the development of
new and modern knowledge contents, and can successfully acquire globally accessible
knowledge and use it productively.
For all these reasons, I regret that I cannot celebrate together with the participants
in this closing ceremony, but I am compensated by the fact that we hosted a successful,
pleasant and memorable event again. I wish you success for your work and scientific
career.
